The AHG & Rocky Bay Corporate Golf Day raised $150,000 setting what's believed to be a new record for a fundraising golf day, for a single charitable organisation in Western Australia. Fantastic!
AHG and a number of its dealerships hold an annual golf day for Rocky Bay and also support the charity organisation with drive cars and specialised transport for its clients.
The fourth annual AHG Rocky Bay golf day was held at Joondalup on March 2, and raised $153,447 for the charity more than $30,000 more than the figure raised at the same event last year.
AHG chief executive officer Bronte Howson praised the Group’s suppliers and clients who supported the day with 32 corporate teams paying to play and then raising further funds at a dinner auction following their day on the greens.
“It was terrific to see the level of support we received from our dealerships, their clients and our business partners,” said Mr Howson.
Rocky Bay CEO Michael Tait said the result was fantastic.
“It will fund the creation at Rocky Bay of a multi-sensory garden, purchase a pool hoist and also provide much needed holiday programs for our clients.
“The overwhelming success on the day will also enable us to plan and provide holiday and respite opportunities for our children and their families. Always costly and difficult to organise these holidays will provide welcome relief to our community.”
A feature of the dinner auction was the generosity of the guests, including businessman Paul Laurance, of Laurance Scrap Metals, who won at the dinner a $5,000 cash prize that he donated straight back to Rocky Bay – along with another $5,000 from his own pocket.
In addition to its backing for the annual golf day, AHG has supported Rocky Bay for the past six years through the provision of motor vehicles and for its fundraising raffles. The group also supports many other charitable institutions and community and sporting groups in Western Australia.
